MammaMode

It's 2023, and a lot has changed. As you may have noticed MeghanMode has evolved to MammaMode. Meghan, now Mamma. Meghan to many, Mamma since July 2021. My son is now 18 months and I'm picking up my phone and typing this post while he lays here asleep in my arms. Something compelled me to log into my blog, so I did. So here I am, here we are. Is this the beginning of my blogging journey as a mamma? I'm not sure, but in this moment something beautiful has begun. I won't question it too deeply, I am simply going with the flow.

I refuse to put pressure on myself to blog like I use to in the past. I want to enjoy writing my blog like I did in the very beginning. When I started out blogging, it was so fresh, new, vibrant, exciting, expressive. There were so many wonderful blogs out there, all different unique, adding something authentic and of great value to so many lives. Blogging looks and feels much different now days. Formality, unifromaty, lack of transparency. Of course blogging has now become influencing, videos and reels, images and less text. The love of reading magazines and blogs is slowly fading.

For me, I found solice and pause in writing my blog. I guess as a new mom you can sometimes find yourself longing and searching for what made me happy before, what did I have that was just mine? What's my passion, my outlet, my thing that I want to put energy into that will give me fullfilment in regards "my thing". It's hard sometimes. Often. Some days harder than others. It's also amazing. Why don't we talk about so many of the taboos, and trials that come with motherhood?

Instead we share reels labelled my mommy morning routine in a perfectly clean beautifully aesthetic sage green kitchen with a couple thousand euro state of the art coffee machine. Or the perfect family breakfast in bed pic on a Sunday morning with a salon quality bouncy blow dry, crisp spotless white bedding and while all of that is aesthetic, it's not entirely the reality. Behind the music that took a half hour to pair with the desired vibe of the reel is screaming kids, a mom who hasn't showered in 5 days, €0 in your account because your coffee machine is financed through humm and you've just paid the bins, electricity, and phone bill (and its the end of January).... The list goes on.

Life is beautiful, life is short. Life is also long and tough for many. Life is strange. Life is confusing. I want to bring reality to my blog and social media, I'm calling it Social Reality rather than Social Media this year. Honesty, rawness and of course FUN. Let's dove into the reality of being a mamma, being a 30 year old woman in todays world, life in general, of course fashion and household tips because we all love that too.

Here's to a new beginning, a new blogging beginning. Social Reality 2023.

(I'm not a proof reader, I'm guilty for typing what I feel and posting, plus I have dyslexia, so sorry for any mistakes😅#reality)

Ciao,

Outfit Jumper: Veromoda / Shirt: New Look / Pants: Next / Boots: Dorothy Perkins / Bag: Guess / Glasses: Accessorize /

Hello everyone, how are you all? Excited and patiently awaiting the long weekend and St. Patricks day? I'm really excited for next week to come, I'm moving forward career-wise and I'm thrilled about it. I can fill you guys in more next week perhaps about this, however, until then today I have a little lookbook to share with you all.
This look was, unfortunately, the only look I shot while I was away. I haven't been away on holidays for over a year and a half if not two years, so with that being said I really wanted to have a good time, relax, eat great food, drink red wine,  focus on my holiday and being in the moment. I had such an amazing time, I would have loved another four days (if not longer). It's definitely a place I want to revisit (and a little side note, it was the first holiday abroad with my boyfriend Patrick which was really special).

Amsterdam is such a beautiful place, the architecture, and canals that are absolutely breathing. The leaning buildings really show just how long they have been there. The history is packed into every crevice of the city which you can experience without spending any money by looking at the buildings, walking along the canals, walking through the flower market (which I didn't get to do, but I will definitely do it next time), even some of the canal tours are free.

I adored watching the locals cycling bicycles with their bike baskets full of groceries, books even a furry friend. It brings such character to the city and highlights the way of life there. When walking what you think is a pedestrian area, or crossing a road it's very important to be super vigilant. There are cars, trams, mopeds, bikes... Every type of vehical you can think of everywhere Haha. The fast-paced city of Amsterdam is a dream, the people are fabulous and I already miss it.

We stayed in the XO Hotel Park West which was wonderfully modern, clean and funky. I was incredibly impressed that we had a kick-ass Nespresso machine in our room (which I took full advantage of, and loved every sip of that coffee). The hotel itself was an alcohol-free hotel, none the less they allow you to bring alcohol and food to your room. The hotel menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner has a really great variety. Food can be a little tricky when I'm not at home because I eat a vegan diet. Amsterdam, in general, has so many options for vegans and I found the staff extremely accommodating in non-vegan restaurants.

If you are considering a trip to Amsterdam I would definitely recommend you visit, and set out a plan for each day to make sure you have ideas of what you want to see and where you want to go before you get there. I would also suggest using the Uber app to get around. There is almost Wifi in every restaurant, bar, or cafe, this will make it easy to book an Uber back to your hotel. Uber works out quite inexpensive, and hassle-free.
I would go back in the morning if I could, I can't wait to visit Amsterdam again sometime.

Goodnight x

Jumper: Urban Outfitters / Dress: Primark

Out with the old, in with the new... Not always the case. I took these photos a good while ago, I never shared them on the blog and thought to myself, why not. I still wear and love this outfit, even though this jumper has many pulls and the shape has gone quite funny. I still find it hard to part with it, therefore I still wear it (shabby chic ehhh). Looking back on these photos makes me want my long hair again :-(. I cut my hair into a bob in September and have loved it, however, I think growing out my hair again so that it's long and luscious again.
Anyways this is a short and sweet one, just thought I'd share. Hope everyone's week has started out amazing.

Good morning loves, I hope you had a fabulous weekend. Last week I had one hectic week, my mom was extremely ill and I was minding her. She thought she had the flu, but it turned out that she had pneumonia. She was extremely ill, bedridden for almost two weeks. I went with her to her doctor's appointments and went into full-on mom mode for the week, ensuring the laundry was kept up to date, dinners were being made, the pets were fed and cleaned. The dishwasher became my most used piece of equipment :-) Haha. She is getting their now thank god, we were at the doctor this morning which went great.

I designated some time on Sunday to shoot this look, I wasn't sure when I would have the opportunity again. I was also slightly stranded last week because our car broke around two weeks ago, so that was an issue when trying to shoot looks. Nonetheless, with this struggle, I found some beautiful locations close to where I live.
Sorry, this post is going up so late on this Monday night. I hope you like it and have a great week guys.

Coat: Bershka / Polo Neck: Next / Leggings: Primark / Socks: Nike / Sneakers: Nike / Cross Body Bag: Zara / Ear Rings: Kembali Galway

Happy weekend everyone, I hope you guys are well. Storm Eric has passed but it's still quite chilly, gray and showery. I thought it was fitting to match the weather and break out my gray Bershka coat. I like to avoid wearing all black on days like this, no matter how tempting and comforting it can be. Adding a pop of colour or a muted neutral can brighten up the look. I paired this gray oversized coat with this comfy and very forgiving black leggings, and a warm gray/black polo neck to keep me warm. Keeping things casual (as it is the weekend) I paired some comfy sneakers and Nike socks for extra warmth while introducing a low key urban vibe (and again, keeping things comfy for the weekend). Adding colour into your look on gloomy days can lift your mood when paired with a smile.

"A smile is most definitely the best accessory you can wear".

I'm so excited for March, I'm heading to Amsterdam on the 9th. I can't wait to be a tourist and find locations for shooting some looks.  I will only have a carry on suitcase as I'm only staying for three nights, which may cause issues when packing and planning looks. I'm also heading to the Country to Country concert in the 3Arean on the 8th of March, I'm so excited. Do you guys like country music? I adore Florida Georgia Line at the moment and Jimmie Allen.

Ok, guys, I'm gonna head off and make some lunch. This weather gives me such a big appetite. Enjoy your weekend, talk to you next week.

Hey guys, how are you all? It is such a dull, rainy day out. The sky is gray, and apparently storm Eric is on his way bringing high winds and heavy rain. My poor dog Noah is anxiously looking at me wondering when will he get his next walk in the bogland behind my house, he loves it down there.

It makes me so happy to look at these photos on a gloomy day like this. On Tuesday night my friend Laura organised a fabulous dinner party for myself and my two other friends Ciara, and Rachel. The four of us get together as much as we can, it can be tough when you get older everything can be so hectic. Work, studies, family time, and just being busy with other things can make it hard to organise a time when everyone is free. With the three girls, we always make sure we make time for each other. We speak every day on our group chat, and if any of us need advice or some TLC you best believe we all come together. It is so important to have a solid group of friends around you, they can become family members that you choose to have in your life and cherish in your heart.

Laura made us such a yummy vegan curry, with rice and naan bread (all from scratch might I add). It was so delicious, I even had seconds. We ate dinner and drank Malbec whilst chatting... Yes, we managed to talk through all the food and wine :-) We always manage that. Thanks again Laura for a fabulous night, and for cooking that delicious dinner for us. Let's do it all again next week? Haha.

Anyways, I think I'm gonna go and make some homemade veggie soup. It's a day for homemade veggie soup. Storm Eric, I'm ready for you I'll have the soup ready.

Talk Soon, Meg x

Turban & Top from Penny's

Hi Blog! Damn it's so cold out in Galway at the moment. There were a few flurries of snow today which was so beautiful to look out at while watching friends, a cup of coffee in hand and, a snuggled up kitten on your lap.
Anyways, how are you today? I feel good today, I had such a lovely day with a friend and her five-month-old baby. We headed into town and grabbed a cup of coffee and caught up with each other. Sometimes time goes by and you don't realise but weeks and months disappear, and that's a lot of catching up to do. We walked the baby from my friend's house to a lovely little baby and mommy friendly cafe in the city called Pascal's.

I went back to the gym yesterday after a long break from any form of exercise :-) ..... And yes, I was a little sore today. But its all worth it, right? Its that good kind of muscular pain that reassures you that you moved your body and targeted those muscles you were focusing on. So... Today is rest day Haha Well cleaning my room will be my exercise of today.

So this is my first post in 2019, well it's my first post since 2017. Juggling college and work over the year has been so tiring and I was unable to allocate time to the blog. I could have created content however, I have ideas and a vision of how I want the blog to look and if it's anything less than that I can be quite the critic. Nonetheless, as I am finished my studies now and searching for that dream job I thought what better time than to blog than now! So here we go, let's get this blog going again :-). I am so excited to be doing this again, I have so many ideas that I can't wait to share with you.

I am headed to Amsterdam in March and I'm very excited to visit the city, try and stalk some of my favourite bloggers that live there, and take some nice fashion focused photos for the blog. Right! So I am off to make some dinner, I'm thinking some yummy pasta tonight to fuel me for my room cleaning. Saying room cleaning whilst rolling my eyes :-). Haha.

Talk soon, goodnight x

Today was such a rainy day in Galway, however the rain doesn’t really bother me all that much. I kind of like it. Today is Wednesday, the midweek slump some may say. I say call your bestie and go for breakie and take some photos of your cute outfit even if it is raining. That’s what I did, it was wonderful. We went to a really nice restaurant in the Galway museum called The Kitchen, we had a yummy breakfast and lots of coffee. I love coffee in the morning, I can’t do anything without my morning coffee.

After breakfast we headed out and took some pictures, my friend Saoirse took some wonderful photos for me (she is a great photographer, thank you Saoirse). We went to a number of locations to get as many colours, textures and settings to see what would make the look stand out or pop. I love doing things like this it makes me feel so creative and I really love modelling the looks. I would love to be able to model full time as my career it would be my all-time dream to be able to model as my job.

It’s now Friday, I'm sitting in the college library writing this blog post. It’s nice and quiet today which I like. I just finished taking photos of today's outfit with my friend Katie, I’m lucky to have wonderful friends to help me capture my looks for the blog. After this I'm meeting a friend, then I’m hitting the gym. Upper body day today, I'm getting stronger but I'm still quite weak so I need to work on this area :-). Hope you like this look and blog post, I'm going to go meet my friend now and I’ll catch you guys soon. Take care loves xox
